Wine of the Week 

Just below the vast Chianti region of the Tuscan countryside, in the Colli Senesi district, the town of Montalcino is known for its great Brunello di Montalcino and the wine's lighter, less complex, junior counterpart, Rosso di Montalcino. Produced from 100 percent Sangiovese fruit, Rosso is aged for one year in traditional Slovonian oak casks and then rests in the bottle for six months before release. A soft, approachable wine with sour cherries, earthy undertones, some pepper and sage on the nose and in the glass, the Carparzo is ready to drink with its even tannins and alcohol/fruit balance. Delicious with pasta dishes, turkey and dressing, pork roast and cheeses. Available at Dorignac's and Langenstein's.
