Wine of the Week

This remarkable, affordable Bordeaux blend of 58 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 39 percent Merlot and 3 percent Cabernet Franc offers a textbook study of a well-made, perfectly balanced wine. Washington state's newest appellation -- Red Mountain -- sits on the mountain's southwest slope, high above the Yakima River. Aged 18 to 20 months in French and American oak and another nine months in the bottle, the wine's harmonious structure of fruit, acid and tannin make it classically appealing. Delicious with steak, roast duck, coq au vin, lamb shanks, venison and veal chops. Available at Dorignac's, The Wine Seller, Antonio's Wine Cellar on the West Bank, and Hugh's Wine Cellar in Mandeville.
