Wine of the Week

Marques de Rical, now in its second century of winemaking in Rioja, Spain's premier wine region, is considered one of the country's top producers. Many of the finest grapes come from the Rioja Alavesa sub-region where Marques de Riscal's vineyards are planted. Aged in oak barrels for 22 months, the wine is 90 percent Tempranillo and 10 percent Graciano and Mazuelo. Good with garlic chicken, stuffed pork chops, paella, and braised lamb shanks. Available at Union Supermarket on S. Carrollton Ave., Dorignac's, Prytania Liquor Store, Vieux Carre Wine and Spirits, Elio's Wine Warehouse, Martin Wine Cellar Uptown and Metairie, Foodies in Metairie and Hugh's Wine Cellar in Covington.
