Wine of the Week 

The Puento Alto Vineyard in Chile's most noted wine region, the Maipo Valley, produced the grapes for this highly rated (Wine Spectator gave it a 90), heavily extracted wine. Aged 14 months in 1-, 2- and 3-year-old French oak, the wine rests another six months in the bottle. Dark fruit and toasty oak aromas give way to black currants and plums, smoke and mint flavors, amid firm, ripe tannins. Best with splash decanting. Good with steaks, roasts, pasta dishes with robust sauces and hearty cheeses.
