Wine of the Week

Chile's Southern Hemisphere positioning -- a 2,700 mile-long strip with cooling ocean breezes from the Pacific on the west, abundant sun, and melting snow from the Andes mountain range on the east irrigating vineyard-covered valleys -- provides ideal growing conditions. A partnership between Napa's Robert Mondavi and Chilean producer Vina Erraziriz, Arboleda's 85 percent Syrah fruit is sourced from vineyards in the north-central Rapel region combined with 15 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipo Valley. Aged 12 months in French and American oak, the wine offers dark berry aromas with raspberry, cherry and hints of chocolate and spice on the palate. Excellent with steak au poivre, braised lamb shanks, and grilled or roasted meats. Available at Cork & Bottle, Prytania Liquor Store, both Whole Foods Market locations, Dorignac's and Sav-A-Centers on Tchoupitoulas Street, Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Clearview Parkway and both Mandeville locations.
