Wine of the Week 

Tuscany's Fonterutoli estate, which dates back to the 12th century, produces excellent wines from 100 percent Sangiovese grapes nurtured by stony, calcium-rich soils and maturing in low-yield vineyards. The estate combines Old World traditions with modern winemaking techniques, aging the wine 12 months in small French oak barrels. Intense aromas of ripe red fruit, spice and toast precede rich currant and cherry flavors with some mineralilty, sweet tannins and a balanced acidity on the palate. Supple, elegant, and concentrated, the wine is drinking well now but will last 8-10 years. Good with veal, eggplant, chicken and pasta dishes.
