Wine of the Week 

Operated by the fourth generation of the family that founded the winery 145 years ago, Faustino produces several numbered labels at varying levels of superiority based on government established viticultural and winemaking standards, with the lowest numbered wine at the top. The fruit is sourced from primarily estate-owned vineyards at altitudes of 1,200-1,800 feet cooled by the Atlantic Ocean to the north. This wine, the bargain-priced, entry-level Rioja, is blended from 50-50 Tempranillo and Garnacha. Aged 10 months in American oak casks, the wine offers red berry aromas with vanilla notes followed by lively red and black currants on the palate and a tart spiciness on the finish. Soft, supple and well-balanced, Faustino VII would make a good house wine. Good with tapas, Mediterranean cuisine, meats and aged cheese, especially Manchego.
