Wine of the Week

2002 Davis Bynum Pinot Noir Russian River Sonoma, California
$25-$30 Retail
Sonoma's Russian River with its fog-capped hillside vineyards along the winding riverbanks yields fruit for many of most well crafted Pinot Noirs produced on the planet. Davis Bynum, a pioneer in understanding and developing the distinct varietal character of Pinots from this renowned region, made this organically grown, award-winning wine. Elegant and generous, intense aromas of fresh, ripened red berry fruit with earthy nuances are followed by waves of cherry, spice and hints of toast on a backdrop of lively acid balanced with velvety tannins. Enjoy with grilled salmon and tuna, roast lamb and mushroom dishes. Where to buy it: Sip Wine Market, Dorignac's (Northshore location), Hugh's Wine Cellar, Acquistapaces Covington Super Market and The Wine Market in Slidell. Where to drink it: Upperline, Orleans Grapevine, Kyoto Sushi Bar, Jackson Restaurant and Vega Tapas. (Listings current at press time.)
