Distinctive Sauvignon Blancs from New ZealandÕs Marlborough region initially attracted wine loversÕ attention, but now the regionÕs Pinot Noirs are gaining admirers. Aged in a combination of once-used and new French oak barriques for 10 months, the wine exudes aromas of ripe plum with subtle oak and spice references. On the palate, this well-rounded wine shows black cherry, red currant and cassis flavors along with supple tannins and a balanced acidity. Drink now or over the next three to five years. Good on its own or with varied cuisine, like tuna, chicken, lamb and veal.
