Wine of the Week

From Priorat, one of SpainÕs most exciting wine regions, Rotllan Torra combines new age winemaking techniques with fruit from ancient hillside vineyards to produce this remarkable release. A blend of 50 percent Garnacha and 25 percent each Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan, the wine spent 24 months aging in oak. Deeply colored, the wine exhibits intense aromas of blackberries, a stony mineralilty and hints of licorice and leather followed by ripe currant, cassis and black cherry flavors with an earthy character. ItÕs richly textured and full-bodied with power to spare. Decant for a fuller appreciation or cellar up to 10-12 years. Good with cassoulet, grilled lamb and other red meat. Where to buy it: Swirl (formerly Sip) in Mid-City, Bacchanal, AcquistapaceÕs Super Market in Covington and HughÕs Wine Cellar in Mandeville. Where to drink it: CafŽ Atchafalaya, Delachaise, Vega Tapas and Mr. JohnÕs Ristorante. (Listings current at press time.)
