Wine of the Week 

Initially planted by the Romans, the cotes (slopes) are home to many of the oldest vineyards in Bordeaux. The Lagarosse chateau, recorded in the 16th century feudal register, is currently planted with 30-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines. This bottling is a harmonious blend of 70 percent Merlot, 20 percent Cabernet Franc and 10 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged for almost 18 months in new oak. Elegant and well structured, the wine exhibits lively fruit character and woody aromas. In the mouth, expect ripe, black currant, plum and cassis fruit along with tar and tea notes and even tannins. The wine improves with decanting. Drink now and over the next 4-6 years. A fine accompaniment with rare steak, other grilled meats and aged cheeses. Where to buy it: Cork & Bottle.
