Wine of the Week 

Perhaps Spain's best-selling wine in U.S. restaurants, this bottle from Rioja deserves its top spot. A blend of 85 percent Tempranillo and 15 percent Garnacha Tinta with just a hint of Graciano, the grapes were sourced from 30- to 50-year-old vines. After aging 24 months in French oak, the wine rests in bottles for 4 more years before release. A full-bodied wine with great depth and complexity, it has an intense bouquet of dark cherries with touches of sweet spice and roasted coffee notes, followed by rich black fruit, refined toasted oak flavors and firm, yet tame tannins. It is best when decanted, and will develop even more nuances over the next 5-10 years. Good with red meats, roasts, game, barbecue and hearty casseroles.
