Wine of the Week

Grapes for this lovely Pinot Noir were sourced from 100-percent estate grown fruit in one of Oregon's newest AVAs (American Viticultural Areas), Eola-Amity Hills in the southeastern part of the Willamette Valley. After fermentation, the wine is aged in new, one- and two-year-old French oak barrels. In the glass, the wine shows spice and black cherry bouquets followed by ripe dark berries on the palate. It's finely structured with balanced acidity. Drink now and over the next four to six years. It's great for gentle sipping and goes well with grilled salmon or tuna and meats like roast chicken, duck, leg of lamb and pork tenderloin. Where to buy it: Martin Wine Cellar. Where to drink it: Restaurant August, Stella!, Martinique Bistro, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, Brennan's, NOLA, Peristyle and Palace Café. (Listings current at press time.) — Brenda Maitland
