Wine of the Week 

Surely one of the world's most stunning settings, northeastern Italy's Trentino-Alto Aldige region is punctuated by the sheer cliffs of the dramatic Dolomites mountains, rising over vast lakes and majestic towered castellos where grape vines have flourished since ancient times. Pravis' vineyards include regional varietals as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Pinot Noir, the latter locally known as Pinot Nero. This reasonably priced wine is aged one year in oak, followed by six months in the bottle before release. In the glass, ripe red-fruit aromas with floral notes and a hint of minerality tempt further exploration of the wine's complex berry/cherry flavors, earthy qualities and good acidity. It's a versatile food wine and good accompaniment to fish, prosciutto, pasta dishes, antipasto and pizza. Where to buy it: Swirl, W.I.N.O. and Bacchanal. Where to drink it: W.I.N.O.
