Wine of the Week

A highly acclaimed wine, this sensuous Super Tuscan from the Terrabianca estate expresses the best in the magical blending of Sangiovese (70 percent) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30 percent) at an affordable price. After one year of aging in oak barriques, the wine rested at least six months in the bottle prior to release. A huge wine that's not without finesse, it exhibits intense aromas of black fruit, some cocoa, toasty oak and savory notes. On the palate, savor bold flavors of dark cherries, some earthiness and minerality. Hints of leather and tobacco linger on the long finish. Decant it for best results when drinking now, or cellar it and let it improve over the next 10 to 12 years. The wine is a wonderful accompaniment to prosciutto, Parmigiano Reggiano, black olives, rack of lamb, osso buco, hearty pasta dishes, roasted or grilled meats, game and fowl. Where to buy it: Rouses Uptown and Corkscrewed Wine Store in Kenner. Where to drink it: Maximo's Italian Grill and Orleans Grapevine Wine Bar and Bistro. (Listings current at press time.)
