Wine of the Week 

Using vineyards dating back to the 14th century, the Veneroso family produced this terrific value and excellent vintage from the hot 2003 season. A Super Tuscan blend of 70 percent Sangiovese and 30 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, this delicious wine offers fragrant aromas of both red and dark fruits, savory spices, a touch of new oak and an engaging minerality. On the palate, luscious ripe-fruit flavors of sour cherry, plum and black currants merge with mocha, earth notes, leather and dried herbs. It is full-bodied and well balanced with good acidity, and it has fully integrated tannins and a long finish. Decant for best results if you drink it now, but it will improve with cellaring over the next eight to 10 years. It's a great match for duck, game, osso buco, grilled or roasted meats, fowl and sausage. Where to buy it: Swirl, Rouses in Uptown and Corkscrewed.
