The work of husband and wife Toby and Lisa Devore, The Tasting Room offers vintages from all over the world, from Chile to Spain, Italy, Argentina, Germany, France and the United States. The Devores hail from California's wine country and moved to New Orleans eight years ago.
"It's been a dream to open up a wine spot in New Orleans," Toby says. "We're really hoping, more than anything, to give people the opportunity to taste wines that maybe are off their radar a bit, off the beaten path."
Wines are available by the glass and bottle in the chic room, which sports handsome couches and tables and exposed brick. There also is a small patio. Daily tastings are on the menu, with flights including a $20 "purveyor's choice," as well as a flight of sparkling wines for $25, both of which feature three 2-ounce pours.
The Tasting Room offers a daily cheese platter for $13, as well as chocolate mousse cake and cheesecake. The popup restaurant Arabella Casa Di Pasta is open during business hours offering Caesar salad, bruschetta and spicy pork, beef and andouille meatballs. Pasta dishes start at $4.40 and include fusilli, rigatoni, spaghetti or fettuccini topped with a variety of sauces.
The Tasting Room is open noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
