With a Bang delves into a darkly comic and absurd world of transcendental confusion when Margaret gets news of her father's death. It's not the first time she's gotten such news, and the odd messenger makes the situation almost otherworldly, but she is determined to carry on his legacy. The work is steeped in the humor of a generation engaged in serially awkward banter and pop cultural references. That new voice may have helped earn playwright Peter McElligott the honor of having the play read at the National New Play Network's new play festival in Atlanta in December 2009. Previews run Wednesday through Friday. Opening night is Saturday. Tickets $19-$35. — Will Coviello
