Monday, Monday

This was the placid scene yesterday afternoon at Molly's Bar in the French Quarter, where a sign advertised Gustav Gimlets and a chorus of voices singing along to the breezy Mamas and the Papas' song drifted out of an open doorway. It's now 7 a.m. CST, and as the Category 3 hurricane arrives in the New Orleans area, wind gusts are in excess of 50 mph and power has been lost in much of the Vieux Carré. David Winkler-Schmit and I just got back from the Omni Hotel, where we were interviewed on the live broadcast of CNN's Newsroom. The streets look very different now:
