Richard Ford wants to read your unpublished story

Posted By on Mon, Oct 20, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Got a short story in that bottom drawer? Just finished writing one? Or do you have one that's been coming back from New York festooned with rejection slips? Well, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ford may well be reading it soon.

Ford will be the judge of this year's Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival Fiction Writing Contest, an adjunct to the annual spring lit-fest in the French Quarter. And what a prize the grand prize is: $1,500 in cash; plane tickets, a hotel room, and a festival pass to this spring's TW Fest; publication in Loyola University's New Orleans Review; and a public reading.

The contest (the "first annual," and we hope it's so) is open to writers who have not published a book-length work of fiction. Entry fee is $20.

For full details, visit the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival Web site.
