Community Records announces oil disaster benefit album

Posted By on Wed, Dec 8, 2010 at 5:45 PM

Local punk rock record label Community Records announced this month the artwork for its Head Above Water: A Response to the BP Drilling Disaster (below), a forthcoming benefit album available as a free download.

Community will digitally release the album on April 20, 2011, the disaster's anniversary date. It'll be free, but the label will accept donations (a la Radiohead's In Rainbows) with all proceeds benefiting the Gulf Restoration Network.

Tracks include material from other punk labels Asian Man, Plan-It-X and Quote Unquote records. The download also will feature literature, video and photographs documenting the disaster.
