Listen: Gambit's free music Friday

Posted By on Fri, Apr 8, 2011 at 10:47 AM

You don't get more free than French Quarter Fest, which continues today through Sunday. Find the lineup here.

Meridian, Miss. rapper Big K.R.I.T. released his new album Return of 4eva this month, which you can download for free on his website. K.R.I.T, at 24, is the likely successor to the throne as a southern hip-hop king, and rightfully so. Meet the new dude (lyrics NSFW):

Local synth-soaked, dark-pop trio Kindest Lines (think stripped down New Order with dreamy female vocals) performs at Hey! Cafe tonight at 7 p.m. Grab Lines' single "Baltimore" here. The band's debut album Covered in Dust (on Wierd Records) premieres June 15. Also performing: local punk trio The Rooks, whose EP is available for free via Community Records.

Below the jump, the latest Black Lips video, partially filmed (accurately) at Saturn Bar, and more free stuff.

Superproducer Mark Ronson produced the track "Modern Art" from the upcoming Black Lips' album Arabia Mountain (VICE). Here's the video:

Stream Big Freedia's new EP on Soundcloud, via Scion A/V.

Merge Records' The Love Language performs 10 p.m. Sunday at Hi-Ho Lounge. Listen to all of Libraries here.
