With 2 Live Crew, rapper Luther Campbell created rap songs and videos, including racier works like "Me So Horny" off the album Nasty As They Want to Be, which drew charges of obscenity and was banned for sale in Florida. The group won its court appeal and the obscenity charges were overturned. The most recent trouble Campbell has had with the law was an IRS lien over his 2012 taxes.

On Thursday, Campbell is a visiting lecturer at Dillard University, where he'll speak to a philosophy class about hip-hop and sexuality. The class is titled "I Cram to Understand: Hip Hop, Sex, Gender and Ethical Behavior" and it was designed in cooperation with MC Lyte, a pioneering female rapper and a feminist voice within hip-hop. The lecture is open to the public and takes place at 4 p.m. in Dillard's Cook Theater. For those unable to attend, the class has its own hashtag, #PHI444, and Dillard President Walter Kimbrough, who is part of the course, can be followed on Twitter at @hiphopprez. Campbell is at @unclelukereal1. MC Lyte is @mclyte.
