Get ready for Sunday night with these awesome Saints/Cowboys moments

For a lot of New Orleans Saints fans, few things are more fun than beating the Dallas Cowboys. I'm neither here nor there with Dallas, but even I know Saints/Cowboys games seem to produce more than their share of cool moments.

Remember when, as Mike Ditka's coaching career wound down, the Saints dropped first-year quarterback Jake Delhomme into a Christmas Even game vs a Dallas team still alive for the playoffs? Remember when Delhomme out-dueled Troy Aikman and helped the Saints to a 31-24 win? I was 14 years old, and it was awesome.

Thing is, the Saints beat the Cowboys in 1998, too, and in 2003 and 2004 and 2006 and 2010 and 2012 and 2013. In fact, the Saints are 10-4 against Dallas since Tom Benson bought the franchise in 1985 — and we were 1-11 against the Cowboys up until that point.

There's no real logic to the on-field results in this series. The 6-10 Saints beat the 10-6 Cowboys in '98, holding Emmitt Smith to six yards rushing; the Cowboys beat the Super Bowl-bound Saints in 2009 in the Superdome.

All I know is there's a good chance that fun things will happen.

Let's take a look at a few of those fun things from the recent past.

Reggie Bush Goes Wild in 2006

Reggie Bush took a short pass a long way against Dallas in 2006 to help put an exclamation point on the Saints' turnaround. Al Michaels, quoting what he imagined the Houston Texans, who had passed on Bush in the draft, as saying during the play: "What in the hell did we do?"

Reggie Bush is almost an all-time great Saint in hindsight, because plays like that stand out more than all the three yard losses and spastic fumbles. Seriously, Reggie: I still cheer for you.

Malcolm Jenkins Saves Thanksgiving in 2010

The best play Malcolm Jenkins ever made as a Saint wasn't the time he ran down a Tampa receiver on a like 90 yard gain. It was this one:

The Saints' offense subsequently drove down the field and won the game. Good times, unless you were a Cowboy.

#AngryIngram Emerges in 2013

Mark Ingram had only occasionally looked worth the first round pick the Saints spent on him in 2011, but starting against Dallas in 2013 — for whatever reason, including improved run blocking, better health, or some kind emerging inner Hulk personality — Ingram got good.

I am 100 percent on Team #AngryIngram now. Get well soon, Mark.

The Saints/Cowboys series has loads of other great memories, too, but what we're really hoping for now is that, on Sunday, we'll make more.
