— New Orleans musician and Drum Buddy inventor — has unveiled his latest instrument invention: a weather-controlled synthesizer. The machine is made of weather-sensitive sensors, and its "singing" tones stream live to the website Weather for the Blind, a constant stream of meditative tones based in an E major chord.

Its first incarnation, the Singing House, debuted at the Music Box, the art installation and shantytown of musical structures in Bywater. Quintron built on that prototype, and then again, with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, where the Weather Warlock base station was built. Weather sensors detect rain, the sun, temperature and wind and are translated to different tones via the Weather Warlock base. The results are streamed live.
This site is called “weather for the blind” in reference to a circadian rhythm sleep disorder suffered by many sight impaired persons. Our hope is that this instrument could be of some help to those experiencing any type of sleep disorder or to anyone suffering from stress or health issues which might benefit from a direct musical connection to nature. Windowless office buildings and crappy hotels may want to tune in as well.
The project plans more weather bases to "hear" weather in other parts of the world, and the site may also stream other sounds or stories, with special guests "performing" on the Weather Warlock. Quintron says he suggests tuning into the livestream during sunrise or sunset "to get the full 3-D effect."

Quintron also is releasing his next album, Spellcaster II: Death in Space (Pizza Burglar Records), on Oct. 28. Quintron & Miss Pussycat perform at One Eyed Jacks Oct. 31 and at the 2014 Voodoo Experience Nov. 2. Stream the title track below:
