New Orleans Film Festival announces Jury Award winners

The New Orleans Film Festival has announced its Jury Award Winners for 2014. Best Narrative Feature went to Proud Citizen, writer-director Thom Southerland's fish-out-of-water tale of a Bulgarian playwright's visit to Kentucky. Proud Citizen will receive a final festival screening on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7:45 p.m. at The Theatres at Canal Place.

The Best Documentary Feature Award went to director Brad Bores' When the Bell Rings, which examines the life of former boxer Dino Wells as he moves to New Orleans to resume his career and reclaim his family. When the Bell Rings screens on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 9:30 p.m. at the The Theatres at Canal Place.

Best Louisiana Feature went to director Alexander Glustrum's Big Charity: The Death of America's Oldest Hospital, which tells the story of New Orleans' sorely missed Charity Hospital. The film screens Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Joy Theater.
