Ice Cream 504 is Uptown's newest spot for homemade, gluten-free ice cream

Posted By on Thu, Nov 6, 2014 at 4:24 PM

There's never a time when eating ice cream isn't a charming experience. Eating homemade ice cream served out of a freshly constructed waffle bowl, though, somehow is even better.

The latest addition to New Orleans' frozen concoction scene is Ice Cream 504, a one-of-a-kind ice cream parlor located just off of the Freret corridor at 2511 Jena St.

Located in a bright blue, diminutive building with glittery, colorful vinyl booths, Ice Cream 504 opened early this fall and prides itself on the fact that every flavor of ice cream (roughly 12, depending on the day) is conceived, created and scooped in-house.

The ice cream is made fresh without gums, preservatives or stabilizers, and every flavor (except for strawberry cheesecake) is gluten-free. Current day-to-day flavors include butter pecan, mango sorbet and blueberry basil, with a creamy, soft sweet potato pie the current seasonal selection. A number of additional seasonal flavors are in the works for the holiday season.

For more information about upcoming flavors and in-store events, follow along via Ice Cream 504's Facebook.

WHAT: Ice Cream 504
WHERE: 2511 Jena St.
WHEN: Wednesday & Thursday, 2 - 8:30 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 2 to 9:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 to 8:30 p.m.
