After the release of its debut Go To Prison last year, New Orleans punk band PEARS caught the attention of influential punk rock label Fat Wreck Chords. The band signed with the label (founded by NOFX frontman Fat Mike) earlier this year — on a chicken-scratched piece of paper.

Today, Fat Wreck re-released Go To Prison, calling it a "monumental album," with plans for a wide-release LP release in September. The album see-saws from melodic pop-punk to fierce hardcore with wide-range vocalist Zack Quinn's smart, often funny and satirical lyrics — you can stream it here. The band currently is wrapping production on its second album, also to be released on Fat Wreck.

The band (also from the 2014 "artists to watch" class of Gambit's 2014 Music Issue) kicks off its next tour on Aug. 13 at Banks Street Bar.
