Over on Stereogum, New Orleans trio Woozy premiered "Venom" from its upcoming album Blistered. The song skewers DIY "scene" shitheads and adds its characteristically dreamy, reverb-dense riffs and huge guitars for a massive finish. Blistered is out Oct. 16 on Community Records and Exploding in Sound Records.
New Orleans punks PEARS, fresh off a re-release of their debut album on Fat Wreck Chords, released a new song, "Snowflake," which appears on the label's popular compilation series this month. Fat Music Vol.8: Going Nowhere Fat is out now — listen to PEARS' melodic, harmony-filled, two-minute pop-punk thriller, all white knuckles and tightly wound hardcore:
Bounce's supreme ruler Big Freedia with trusty producer DJ BlaqNMild joined the Adult Swim Singles series to add that beat to eccentric pop artist Sia's "Eye of the Needle." Freedia and a low-key bounce beat strut alongside Sia's anthemic, piano-driven pop:
Prolific Louisiana metal outfit Thou also appears on the Adult Swim Singles series with its take on Eyehategod-styled sludge. Listen to "Eyehatethou" below:
New Orleans post-punk band Heat Dust — think Wipers but stuck in the humidity — recently debuted two songs from its upcoming self-titled album. The album is out on punk/metal/general dark stuff label The Fensler on Sept. 25. Listen to the charging "Seeking a Praxis" below:
Alexis & The Samurai (aka Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft) hosts a single release party at 10 p.m. tonight, Aug. 21 at One Eyed Jacks. Listen to "Swamp Fire" below:

Pop-punk band Donovan Wolfington's sophomore LP How To Treat the Ones You Love is out today on Top Shelf Records; listen to album opener "Ollie North" below. The album — full of big hooks, self-relfection, and then bigger hooks — premiered on Billboard this week. You can stream the whole thing here.
