A preview of KREWE du Optic's flagship store

Posted By on Thu, Aug 27, 2015 at 4:34 PM

Launched in June 2013 with a three-piece collection, local eyewear brand KREWE du optic quickly became a fashion juggernaut, expanding to include 20 styles and garnering celebrity fans (Beyonce, model Gigi Hadid and others) along the way. On Sunday, Aug. 30, its flagship location opens in the French Quarter (809 Royal St., 504-407-2925).

The 19th-century, 900-square-foot space features an eyewear fitting station, espresso bar by Merchant Cafe and a petite courtyard. Home and garden accessories will be for sale alongside KREWE du Optic's handcrafted Italian acetate frames. For founder and creative director Stirling Barrett, who studied art at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, the shop's proximity to Royal Street galleries is "serendipitous."

"Eyewear design is line and perspective and how it interacts with your face," Barrett told Gambit/CUE in a March 2015 interview. "It should represent who you are and your personal style."

KREWE du Optic's grand opening party takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.
