The 2015 New Orleans Film Festival has announced its opening and closing night films, along with its Centerpiece and Spotlight films, all of which are shown out of competition and serve as advance public screenings for major independent films to be released theatrically this fall and in 2016.

Opening the Festival on Oct. 14 will be Born to Be Blue, a biopic of legendary jazz trumpeter Chet Baker starring Ethan Hawke and directed by Canadian filmmaker Robert Budreau. The closing film on Oct. 22 will be Brooklyn, adapted for the screen by Nick Hornby (author of High Fidelity) from Colm Toibin's 2009 award-winning historical novel. The Centerpiece film is I Saw the Light, a biopic of country great Hank Williams starring Tom Hiddleston, best known as Loki in recent Marvel Universe movies.

The Spotlight series films include The Reflektor Tapes, a reportedly experimental documentary about Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire, and Youth, Italian director's Paolo Sorrentino's follow-up to our favorite film of 2014,The Great Beauty. Youth stars Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel, Jane Fonda and Rachel Weisz. See the trailer below. More info on all these films plus additional Spotlight series films is available here.
