The meteoric rise of actor Benedict Cumberbatch began minutes into the first airing of the BBC's extraordinary series Sherlock, and quickly lead to a passionately devoted and international fan base unmatched by that of any other actor in the current era. Cumberbatch hysteria reached a new peak when it was announced that the actor would star in a stage production of Hamlet at the Barbican Theatre in London's West End for a limited 12-week run (ending on Halloween night), which of course sold out in in record time. Previous interest in Shakespeare was not a prerequisite.

Cumberbatch's Hamlet will be simulcast to movies theaters across the globe this Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m, including the local Elmwood and West Bank theaters. More info and advance tickets — which have already sold out in many locations — are available here.
