  • Uptown French Bakery La Boulangerie has been sold to the Link Restaurant Group.

Uptown bakery La Boulangerie (4600 Magazine St., 504-269-3777) has been sold to Donald Link’s restaurant group. The French bakery and cafe made the announcement Nov. 22 on its Facebook page. The bakery will close Nov. 26 for renovations and reopen under the Link Restaurant Group's helm mid-December.

Former owner Dominique Rizzo opened the Magazine Street bakery in 2000, selling fresh baguettes, French pastries and confections.

“It has been an exciting 15 years,” Rizzo writes. “We are proud to have served the New Orleans Community, brining a touch of the French joie de vivre with every bite.”

Traditional reveillon dinners are a home-cooked, one-night affair, but many New Orleans restaurants offer promotional reveillon menus in December.

Beginning Dec. 1, roughly 50 participating restaurants are offering prix-fixe menus inspired by the Creole tradition that dates back to the 1800s.

Prices range from $34 to $110, depending on the restaurant, and most fall between $50 to $60.

Participating restaurant menus include a $48 four-course set at Brigtsen’s, featuring oyster chowder with bacon and fennel, barbecue shrimp with shrimp calas and roast duck l’orange with dirty rice and citrus sauce.

The most expansive and expensive ($110) dinner is offered by Commander’s Palace, where an eight-course menu includes stone crab and caviar finger sandwiches, black truffle butter stuffed petit poussin, and Kobe beef steak served over potato puree with bruleed banana and Worcestershire demi-glace.

The menus can be found on Follow Your Joy, a promotional campaign from the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation.
