New Orleans musicians will band together to perform songs by Eagles of Death Metal this month to support families of victims of the Paris terror attacks. Eagles of Death Metal (EODM) was performing at the Bataclan theater to a crowd of 1,500 people on Nov. 13 when gunmen randomly fired into the crowd, killing 89 people. Members of Dash Rip Rock, Bantam Foxes, The Breton Sound, Hello Nomad and Daria & the Hip Drops will perform at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at Gasa Gasa (4920 Freret St.), with all proceeds going to the Sweet Stuff Foundation. Admission is $5.

Founded by EODM's Josh Homme, the Sweet Stuff Foundation was created to help pay for health care for musicians and recording engineers and their families. Through 2015, however, the organization is directing all proceeds to families of victims from November's terror attack, including Nick Alexander, who worked the band's merchandise table. Alexander was among the people killed at the Bataclan that night.

Bantam Foxes' Collin McCabe and Hello Nomad's Trent Pruitt last saw EODM perform at One Eyed Jacks in September.

"Because of the emotional connection to the band that we all shared, we felt an even more intense relationship to the attacks, even from thousands of miles away," McCabe said. "We wanted to help our fellow fans affected by the attacks somehow, but we're all musicians and most of us don't have the means to donate much. ... We figured, what better way to help than throw one hell of a rock show honoring EODM? In the face of tragedy, they said it best: vive la liberte, vive la musique, vive la France, and vive EODM. Music has always helped us deal with tragedy. Rock and roll lives on."
