Shotgun Cinema will take over the Marigny Opera House, 725 St. Ferdinand St., this weekend with the launch of a new avant-garde film series called Full Aperture: Collected Visions on Friday night, January 8, and a screening of 1928 French silent classic The Passion of Joan of Arc on Saturday night, January 9.

Full Aperture: Collected Visions is described as a "program of short films that showcases explorations of perception and vision in the American avant-garde." The 16mm film presentation of The Passion of Joan of Arc will be accompanied by a live score performed by cellist Lori Goldston, who was a member of Nirvana's touring band in the early 1990s. Tickets and more information are available here.
