  • Pearl Jam performs at the 2016 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Beck, J. Cole, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Maxwell, Ms. Lauryn Hill, My Morning Jacket, Snoop Dogg, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the many performers coming to the 2016 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

The festival announced its lineup today — check the list of performers below the jump.

The 2016 Jazz Fest is April 22-24 and April 28-May 1 at the Fairgrounds Race Course.
R&B's maestro Stevie Wonder returns to Jazz Fest for the first time since 2008 — he brought his Songs in the Key of Life tour to the Smoothie King Center last year.

Neil Young, who stirred the rain after his finale cover of The Beatles "A Day in the Life" at his 2009 headlining slot on the Acura Stage, also returns, this time with his latest touring outfit Promise of the Real.

Pearl Jam also is a veteran of the Fest, last performing in 2010, when frontman Eddie Vedder had a few words for BP in the wake of the oil disaster.

Van the man Morrison also returns following his 2010 Fest performance. The singer-songwriter recently celebrated his 70th birthday with concerts in Ireland. His most recent album is a collection of duets, released in 2015 and features, among others, Mavis Staples (who also performs at this year's Fest).

As predicted/announced, Paul Simon also performs. He last appeared at Jazz Fest alongside longtime collaborator Art Garfunkel. Simon flies solo this time.

The festival is the first without Allen Toussaint, who will receive a tribute on the Fest's closing day Sunday, May 1. Friend and collaborator Elvis Costello, who delivered lovely remarks to the late legend in November, will perform at this year's festival. Costello and Toussaint performed together following their album The River in Reverse at the Fest in 2006.

The hip-hop and bounce lineup features the O.G. Snoop Dogg, J. Cole, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Flo Rida, Mystikal, THE GRÏD featuring Nesby Phips, Big Freedia and a "New Orleans Experience" showcase with S-8ighty, Partners-N-Crime and DJ Jubilee, among others.

Country and folk singer-songwriters on the bill include Arlo Guthrie, performing "Alice's Restaurant "on its 50th anniversary, and Brandi Carlile, following 2015's stellar The Firewatcher's Daughter. Hurray for the Riff Raff makes its return to New Orleans, and locals The Deslondes, The Kid Carsons, Yvette Landry and Lynn Drury also are on the bill.

And, of course, there's the jazz lineup: Christian Scott, following his fantastic 2015 album Stretch Music, will be there, as well as Herbie Hancock with Wayne Shorter, a trio of Jack DeJohnette, Ravi Coltrane and Matt GarrisonThe Late Show bandleader Jon Batiste with Stay Human, and Arturo Sandoval and Gregory Porter, among others.
