Brewsday Tuesday: Upcoming New Orleans beer events

After an early Mardi Gras, the next big beer drinking holiday is St. Patrick’s Day, more than a month away. Here are some sudsy events to keep beer lovers busy in the meantime.

Tickets are still available for the Belgian beer and food pairing event Nuit Belge Feb. 26. Attendees can sample Drie Fonteinen, Cantillon, Jester King and other brews served in a Spiegelau craft beer glass.

Peche Mortel means “mortal sin,” and Montreal’s Dieu du Ciel! brewery celebrates sinfulness with the release of its imperial coffee stout, Peche Mortel, and five variations of the beer, including peach and bourbon barrel aged versions. The Avenue Pub (1732 St Charles Ave., 504-586-9243) is one of 24 bars in the world that will offer the special beers on tap, beginning at 2 p.m. Feb. 27.

NOLA Brewing (3001 Tchoupitoulas St., 504-896-9996) holds its birthday party Seven Years of Beers at 5 p.m. March 4. The event features barbecue and beer for sale, including the brewery’s special anniversary brew, Boysen the Wood, a 4.5 percent alcohol by volume American sour ale aged in white wine barrels with boysenberry fruit. Musical entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m. with Naughty Professor and Chali 2na from Jurassic 5, followed by The Motet with original Meter Leo Nocentelli at 9 p.m. Tickets are $17-$22.

NOLA Brewing is sponsoring Drafts for Crafts at the National WWII Museum (945 Magazine St., 504-528-1944) at 7 p.m. March 11. There is unlimited local beer at the event supporting the museum’s restoration of a Higgins Industries-built PT-305 boat. Tickets cost $65.

The Abita-sponsored New Orleans International Beer Festival is  2 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 19 in Champions Square. The event features more than 150 beers.
