St. Patrick's Day is only two weeks away! You know what that means: time to stock up on green items so you won't get manhandled in the street by a bunch of creepy drunks. (It's really a great holiday.) And sure, you could just wear a mint-hued T-shirt, but wouldn't you rather strap a tiny cabbage to your head? I know I would. Let's talk more about that cabbage.

How cute is this headband? So cute! It's handmade by Claudia Lynch, who sells it on her Etsy page for $35 — and if you're local, she'll hand-deliver your petite 'bage.

"I made my first handmade cabbage a few years ago as part of a Mardi Gras costume," Lynch says. "Last year, I repurposed it as a headband for St. Patrick’s Day. On a whim, I put it on Etsy; within 10 minutes I’d sold two of them, and got two more orders before the end of the day. ... My kitchen looks like a cabbage factory now."

You have to order by Thursday, March 10 if you want your headband by Sunday, March 12. I don't know why you'd have to reserve this accessory for St. Patrick's Day, either. We should celebrate antioxidant- and fiber-rich greens daily.

Booze. You need it. Local designer Stirling Gold's embroidered cases ($35.95 - $39.95) look like ladylike clutch purses, but inside, they're all business: heavyweight canvas with tough foam inserts that accommodate five 50 ml bottles of liquor. (Bottles included; liquor not included.) So you're basically a walking hotel mini bar when you carry the tiny liquor case, and everyone loves mini bars.

OK, the thing about everyone needing booze was kind of a lie. Plenty of people don't need or want to drink alcohol. For them, there's green juice by The Green Fork (200 Metairie Road, Metairie, 504-309-3677; 1400 Prytania St., 504-267-7672), which is a dollar off through March IF and ONLY IF you order it while wearing Native nail polish in "Masquerade," a lovely green hue.

You don't want your house getting pinched, do you? At Miette (2038 Magazine St., 504-522-2883), all green flowers made by local float artists are 20 percent off March 10 -17. They range in price from $40 to $500.

No parading event could be complete without a wig by Fifi Mahony's (934 Royal St., 504-525-4343). I mean, look at this masterpiece. Custom wigs like this one range from $120 to $150, and Fifi Mahony's will accept custom orders up to two weeks before St. Patrick's Day — so if you want an elaborate, sculptural concoction of glitter and synthetic green tresses for the parade, now is the time to call.
