Here's a look at seven recent and upcoming releases from New Orleans artists:

Leyla McCalla
A Day for the Hunter, A Day for the Prey (Jazz Village/Harmonia Mundi)
The multi-instrumentalist and former Carolina Chocolate Drop follows her impressive debut, the Langston Hughes-inspired Haitian folk and jazz on 2014's Vari-Colored Songs, with a self-portrait of an album pulling from Haitian roots and an American palette. The album was recorded at Dockside Studios with fellow Chocolate Drop Rhiannon Giddens, guitarist Marc Ribot, Lost Bayou Ramblers' Louis Michout and bandmate/husband Daniel Tremblay and Jason Jurzak.
All People
All People (Community Records)
The Community Records founders embrace raw emotion on an anthemic, post-punk-inspired third full-length album.
Casual Burn
Talk Bad
The punk band's debut is jangly, sloppy, wadded-up and wiry world-on-fire treble led by Monet Maloof's screaming garbage hurricane poetry. Happy summertime anthem "Vacation Brain" says "losing is fine" and "Doorways" is Feelies on sad.
de lune deluge
Honeycomb
Singer-songwriter Vanessa Degrassi orchestrates a loose ensemble through her sunny, kaleidoscopic folk, layered with her intricate harmonies and guitar, flute, organs and ukulele.
MJ Guider
Precious Systems (Kranky)
Following 2014's excellent Green Plastic, MJ Guider's full-length debut is due July 15 on Kranky, the venerable Chicago-based experimental label. Album opener "Lit Negative" premiered via Fact Mag:
Second Woman
Second Woman (Spectrum Spools)
The new duo from Turk Dietrich (Belong) and Joshua Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv) crafts textured, often-dizzying electronic entries inspired by ASMR phenomena.
Pheasants
Pheasants
The Byrds- and Can-inspired psychedelic folk outfit is all golden hues in its self-titled debut teaser “Levin’s Party,” an appropriately whimsical single-shot, slow-motion daydream through a colorful backyard party. The band celebrates with an album release show at 10 p.m. Friday, June 5 at One Eyed Jacks. Twain, Esther Rose and Toonces open.
