(additional info below the jump!)

Hunter’s Field at St. Bernard Ave and Derbigny St.

Every year, the picnic provides school supplies for over 250 local children. The day will include free school supplies, food, drinks, games, guest speakers and more. All monetary and donation of supplies are greatly appreciated. Checks should be made out to ‘Backstreet Cultural Museum’. Supplies can be dropped at the museum (address below) during business hours: Tues — Fri 10am-4pm and Sat 10am-3pm.

Additionally, Backstreet Cultural Museum is in the middle of their annual fundraising drive and are soliciting new members and donations. Opened since 1999, the museum rests in the heart of the Treme neighborhood, helping to preserve the cultural traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians, jazz funerals and social aid and pleasure clubs. The donations and memberships go towards providing guided tours for school groups and to keep the gallery lit and vibrant throughout the year. For more information on membership, you can contact the museum via information below.
