101 Donations: A Fundraiser for NOLA City Bark

With a Disney-inspired twist, NOLA City Bark hosts a fundraiser to open the proposed park, the first official dogs-only grounds in New Orleans. The park, a 4.6-acre plot in City Park behind Popp Fountain and bounded by Zachary Taylor, Diagonal and Magnolia drives, originally was included in the city's pre-Katrina 2012 master plan. City Park sustained millions of dollars in damages from Katrina, thus leaving City Bark's fate to generous donors. The group has met more than half its $500,000 goal in donations to cover construction costs, and earlier this year, draining and park-shaping projects were completed, with work underway to install plumbing, electricity, fencing and paths. The fundraising event features an auction, food and live music from Paul Soniat, the Hap Pardo Trio and the Creole String Beans. Unlike the park, however, the event is for two-legged guests only. Visit for details. Tickets start at $101. — Alex Woodward
