86 Caprice featuring Jimbo Mathus and Derrick Freeman

Feb. 15

9 p.m. Sunday

One Eyed Jacks, 615 Toulouse St., 569-8361; www.oneeyedjacks.net

New Orleans drummer Derrick Freeman recorded his CD It Is What It Is with Jimbo Mathus (pictured) as a producer at his Como, Miss., recording studio. Mathus, a Clarksdale native and former Squirrel Nut Zipper, has worked on Grammy-nominated albums with Buddy Guy and the North Mississippi Allstars. The two fire up 86 Caprice with a mix of Mathus' country- and gospel-inflected Mississippi blues and Freeman's New Orleans funk. The Tom Paines open. Tickets $10.
