Re: “"New Orleans became a blank slate after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005..."

With the exception of maybe one person, none of the people who are shown on Neighborland's home page even remotely look like native New Orleanians or even long time transplants. With rare exceptions, most of the people who have moved here to "help" rebuild New Orleans have no intention on returning New Orleans to our way of life. They want to create another Portland, Seattle, Boulder, Denver, cities that while having something to separate them from every other urban area are what I call "vanilla". Nothing special (ok Denver and Boulder have the Rocky Mountains but having lived there for 16 years and visiting other cities, i.e. Omaha, I can accurately state that these places look like every other city), just cookie cutter shopping centers, condos (OMG I hate that word and 'style'), restaurants that claim to be the newest hot place to go, boring unimaginative and the sidewalks are rolled up at 11pm. One of the main reasons I moved back home is because it is home, it is unique, it is interesting. Please all do-gooders go back where you came from, we appreciate what you did but it's time for you to go back home, wherever that is, or move on to the next project that you feel "needs" you.

Re: “Five spots to get cracklings

Another one: Danny and Bonnie's Seafood on Lafayette St. in Gretna, cooked fresh when you order. Just be careful, they're addictive :-)

Re: “Smokin’ Buddha BBQieux: New in "Qieux"

Had the meat pies at the fest and was blown away! Tracked them down when they opened, went to the soft opening so we ate for free. Bacon blue cheese potato salad is awesome, even had an avocado/guac margarita, not a margarita person but it was actually pretty good, smooth, not too sweet or overpowering of tequila. Great staff, will be going back soon!

Re: “Group threatens JCPenney boycott because of Ellen DeGeneres

Seriously??? Is this really even an issue? Ellen is not trying to convert anyone to her lifestyle. She is low key, a great entertainer and a fantastic philanthropist who uses her celebrity to help those less fortunate than herself. As the lady on OMM's FB page said, let those who are without sin cast the first stone. I don't believe in a God that judges us for our lifestyle choices as much as for what we did on earth to better others.
