Re: “Clancy DuBos: Steve Scalise needs to make a personal apology

Do not concur. A 20-year-old makes mistakes and blunders. A 36-year-old knows which side of his bread is buttered. I think Scalise knew what he was doing then and he doesn't want to apologize now because he does not want to alienate his base.

Re: “Review: The Theory of Everything

While I agree the acting is terrific, the story is totally uninteresting. What makes Hawking famous is not his disease--it's his theories and mathematical prowess to prove them. We get precious little of that in this movie. I left the theater disappointed and wondering why anyone would make such an unremarkable movie.

Re: “Who controls Bayou St. John?

This is a healthy exercise of democracy. Those who have an opinion should contact their council member and/or neighborhood group. Kudos to The Gambit for encouraging the conversation.

Not discussed here: use of the bridge on the bayou across from Cabrini. It's a public bridge limited to pedestrians and bicyles, but the city has begun to issue permits for private parties on the bridge. During these private events, no one is allowed to cross the bridge. Right now it's just a few times a year, but the City and the neighborhood need to come to an agreement about where to draw the line. Would hate to see it get to the point that the bridge is closed to the general public every weekend.

Re: “Trying to wash us away

A home run, Clancy! SLFPA-E is acting like the independent levee board we intended them to be, and we need them to be.

Re: “The Big Oil lawsuit and wetlands war

Outstanding presentation. I look forward to your continuing coverage of the political machinations of Jindal and Graves. We must never forget that the SLFPA-East and West were established to be strong and independent guardians of our flood defences. This will be the first real test of whether politics can again ruin our chances to assure public safety.

Re: “Uptown street construction

The city is fixing streets. The federal government is improving drainage. It's messy and temporarily inconvenient, but it's good news and we should all be happy about it.
