Re: “Where did bargeboard come from?

I owned a house on N.Tonti St (1943-45). My daddy who was the first African American Industrial Arts teacher in NOPS renovated it. He told me that the walls were made of bargeboards ! They were appr.2" thick and 10" wide. TRUE STORY : My brother ,who was renting from me,decided one day that he was going to cut an archway between the 2 front rooms !!!! (He sneaked and did it , w/o my permission, while I was at school) He finally fessed up one day. He said he burned out 2 electric saws trying to complete his "lil" project ! (smile)
