Dear "No Free Lunch",
I own a bar in the French Quarter. I'm not a rich out of towner as you seem to be. I've busted my ass in the service industry my entire adult life to get to this point, and owe the opportunities that I have had to this great city. The real problem has NOT been the Musicians, on the street or in the clubs but people like yourself. Thanks to the people buying up real estate in droves for "empty summer homes" as you call it, rents have skyrocketed and I can no longer afford to live in the same neighborhood as my business as I've been accustomed to for many years. I can assure you that myself & my business pay more money in taxes to the city, state, and federal government every month, quarter, and year than you could comprehend. Musicians have nothing to do with the innefficiancy of our utility companies or city goverment, which I can assure you has always been laissez faire at best. This city does not need to change for you, you need to change for this city. Our traditions have been here for generations. Take a moment to enjoy the amazing multi layered place that is New Orleans, and if you can't - maybe its your time to go.
