Re: “Cafe Henri in Bywater to close

I have to disagree with the owner's point and this comment above. The "loss of Hollywood South" and the surge in short-term rentals has nothing to do with the fate of Cafe Henri. As a resident of the Bywater, I can assure you-- this neighborhood loves to wine and dine-- all price points and cuisines welcome. So long as you give us something special and worth our dime! Let's remember the simplest ingredient to a successful restaurant-- you must be good! I gave Cafe Henri multiple tries and each time left disappointed: high prices for an uneventful menu, lackluster and overly sweet cocktails (that were pretending to be high end), food that was flavorless and an overworked staff. Can we take a lesson from places like Paladar 511, Junction, Red's, Bacchanal, Pizza D, The Joint, Mimi's, Elizabeth's...? These spots do great because they are great. Locals and visitors all know to come to the Bywater for delicious food, tasty drinks and fun times. Sadly, it seems this corner is cursed because they aren't taking a hint from one another. Cafe Henri is the same story as Booty's is the same story as Oxalis (which sadly used to be good but went down hill). We will support you, but we won't be played! Give us something meaningful and from the heart and don't blame your losses on the Hollywood South, Airbnb, or a "changing" neighborhood. We aren't Uptown either. But we'll be here for you when you deliver us the goods.
