Re: “Review: Caroline, or Change

"Musicals don't often wrestle with weighty social issues?"

Tell that to the creators of "Show Boat," "Cabaret," "Falsettos," "West Side Story" "Fiddler on the Roof," "Pins and Needles,""Carousel," "Hair," "South Pacific," "Evita," "Runaways," "Dear Evan Hansen," "Hamilton," "A Chorus Line," "1776," "Jelly's Last Jam," "Assassins," "Finian's Rainbow," "Ragtime," and on and on.

"Caroline or Change" is part of a rich tradition of exploring important social and political themes through musical theatre. Most musicals are more than high kicks and hijinks. Anyone who believes otherwise has much to learn about this important art form.
