Re: “Review: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

"A scene in which she schools the local clergyman on the meaning of culpability (and hypocrisy) surely ranks among the years most memorable." You know what would be even more memorable? A Hollywood movie where an imam gets schooled over his culpability in Islamic terrorism.

The cover story ignores the long history of zines and small press in New Orleans, in order to pretend that smug millennial transplants invented the format.

Re: “Commentary: The majority is not always right

Another case of "New Orleans isn't really the South" handwringing from the bourgeois liberals at Gambit. To quote Bette Davis: "..but you are, Blanche. You are."

Re: “Review: Trumbo

"House Un-American Activities Committee, which interrogated members of the Hollywood creative community (and other industries) for alleged communist sympathies", Except Trumbo's sympathies weren't alleged. Trumbo was a Communist Party member who toed the Stalinist party line even after the Soviets signed the Non-Aggression Pact with Hitler, which caused many on the left to break with the USSR in disgust. There were liberals who were burned by the blacklist, but Trumbo wasn't one of them.
