Parish Brewing Company celebrates Grand Reserve day with a sold-out event Nov. 20

Andrew Godley, founder and president of Parish Brewing Company (229 Jared Drive, Broussard, 337-330-8601;, generally eschews traditional public relations and didn't need to do much to promote Grand Reserve day on Nov. 21, when the brewery releases its annual barleywine. Only 400 tickets were available, and they sold out quickly.

"We could sell a lot more, but I don't think it would be feasible to handle a bigger crowd," Godley says. "It's important to me that we deliver quality to the folks that attend. There have been other beer release events around the southeast that have been oversold or overcrowded, and I never want that to happen with us."

Tickets are available for a beer pairing dinner held Nov. 20 at the brewery. The event features a tasting of all four Grand Reserve vintages and food by the chefs at the Lafayette restaurant Dark Roux. Tickets are $125 and attendees who use the promotional code "GR25" when ordering receive a 25 percent discount.

Godley says dinner patrons can purchase sought-after beers like the newest batch of Ghost in the Machine, Grand Reserve 2015 and the 2015 Imperial Reserve, Parish's annually released imperial stout. Bottles of the Grand Reserve aged one year in Four Roses bourbon barrels also will be sold.

Grand Reserve will be available on tap on Nov. 21 at select locations, including The Avenue Pub (1732 St. Charles Ave., 504-586-9243; It will be available in bottles beginning the following week.
